Is the Eagles' Season Over?

It was Week 14 in the NFL, and the Eagles were looking to add on another win to their impressive season. This was a tough matchup against the 9-3 Los Angeles Rams who have been a surprise to many people this season especially because of the recent play of second year quarterback Jared Goff. He has shown leadership on his team and was looking to make a name out of himself by taking down the possible MVP of the league in Carson Wentz. Wentz was having an outstanding year throwing for 3,296 yards and a league-high 33 touchdown passes. Late in the third quarter of the game the other day, Eagles were in the red-zone looking to add on to their lead against the Rams. Wentz attempted to run it in himself going for the score, and people here believe that this is where the injury occurred. After the play, he got up but the left knee looked a bit unstable according to sources. He did stay in the game for that drive throwing another touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery, but was later escorted to the locker room by team medical physicians.

Eagles Coach Doug Peterson said after the game Sunday that Wentz did indeed tear his ACL but will be tested to see the severity of the injury. There is a slight chance he could return this season, but sources say he is officially out for the remainder of the season. When Wentz came out, backup QB Nick Foles stepped in going 6 for10 on passes throwing for 42 yards and eventually securing the win for the Eagles. With the win, Philadelphia clinches the NFC East division title and still maintains the best record in the NFL. But how are the Eagles going to fair out now because of Carson Wentz's injury? Philadelphia fans are not worried about having Nick Foles coming in to replace Wentz. Foles had an earlier stint with the Eagles back in 2013 where in 13 games he threw for almost 3,000 yards, 27 touchdown passes, and completed 64.0% of his passes. But how will the Eagles play the rest of the season including come playoff time? We'll just have to find out coming into week 15 where they face the 2-11 New York Giants.
