The ACC featured a great matchup today between #1 ranked Duke Blue Devils and #13 Florida State Seminoles. With Zion Williamson sitting out the second half due to an apparent eye injury, Duke's other stars needed to step it up. This includes RJ Barrett who exploded for 32 points proving his dominance throughout college basketball. Between the several lead changes throughout the game and the overwhelming Florida crowd, everyone and their mother knew this game was going to be decided within the final seconds of the game. The seminoles lead by one going into the half and Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski needed to make adjustments on both the offense and defense considering the absence of Williamson. Late in the second half both teams were fighting for the lead and Duke had a chance to tie the game up with RJ Barrett at the line. He only made 1-2 free throws but a controversial sideline call gave the Blue Devils another shot but this time, it was for the win. The referees believe they made the right call and both teams set up their positions for the inbound pass. With all the focus on the leading playmaker Barrett cutting towards the right-hand corner, Freshman Cam Reddish took the opportunity to slip out from his defender and nail a wide-open three to take a two-point lead. It was blown coverage by the Seminole defense but a big shot hit by a future NBA prospect. He finished with 23 points while Phil Cofer had 21 points for FSU along with Mfiondu Kabengele's 24 and 10 rebounds off the bench. Duke prevailed with the 80-78 win on the road and continue their campaign as the #1 team in the nation.
