The 2018 Masters Tournament was won by no one other than, not Tiger Woods, not Jordan Spieth, but....Patrick Reed? Yes, the American hero Patrick Reed. Not the most popular figure in golf but he has certainly boosted his fame with his latest win yesterday at the illustrious tournament played in Augusta. Reed is 27 years old and has been on the PGA Tour since 2011 racking up six total Tour wins. But none of them have been bigger than the Masters. He finished off the day with a -15 score just getting by the likes of Ricky Fowler, Jordan Spieth and and Jon Rahm. Reed shot a 69 on the first day, 66 on the second, 67 on the third, and 71 on the last day to maintain the lead. A lot of his success comes from his shooting around the green where he is 5th in the world with a .611 accuracy rate. Beyond the numbers, his determined attitude and remarkable play has put him up there with the greats such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and even the greatest of this past decade, Tiger Woods. All respect to the other guys who competed in the tournament, but it just felt right for this underdog story to come true. Especially walking out of Augusta with a purse worth $11 million.
