Why Anthony Davis to the Lakers Might Be the Worst Thing to Happen to the NBA

It is obvious to see that All-Star Anthony Davis is frustrated with the Pelicans' team and franchise as a whole. Since they drafted Davis back in 2012 with the #1 overall pick, the team has had multiple losing seasons and little playoff appearances considering the additions of Jrue Holiday and formly DeMarcus Cousins. Davis has repeatedly said over the last few years that he wanted to stay a Pelican and play for the city of New Orleans, but boy does time surely change. Multiple rumors have come up in the media with trade talks involving the former Kentucky Wildcat being shipped to either the Lakers, Celtics, or Knicks. The Lakers have supposedly become the front-runner for Davis considering the presence of LeBron James who has publicly expressed interest in him via Instagram. As of recent news, the Pelicans have not answered any trade talks from the Lakers. But even with this news, Anthony Davis going to the Lakers would cause quite a scene around the NBA. Many former players, current players, fans, coaches, etc. have all said their feelings about this issue and most opinions favor NOT forming superteams. It is not only the fact that Davis would team up with Lebron, but it is the recruitment during the offseason with the likes of Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, or even Kevin Durant. There are multiple "what ifs" but this joining of a new superteam will just form a new Golden State Warriors team. It would be bad for the Western Conference having one team dominate the whole season and then playoffs, but also bad for the NBA because a lot of young and upcoming prospects will believe that the only way to win a championship is to make superstar teams aka make a team with your best friends (LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh). Also, teams are clearing up a lot of their overwhelming cap space from previous player contracts to acquire all-stars who are willing to take a pay-cut to play on an overall stacked team. For example, DeMarcus Cousins joining the Warriors on a veteran contract to join Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. The league is heading down a dark alley and teams are trying their best Miami Heat impression with making these teams to win multiple championships that is FOR SURE not guaranteed. And P.S, watch out for the Knicks in the future with all their cap space, big moves coming from them.
